German Measles

Rubella (German measles) is a very infectious viral illness. The virus is passed on through droplets in the air from the coughs and sneezes of infected people. Two of the main symptoms of the rubella virus are a fever and a distinctive redpink rash.

Anyone can get rubella, but young children are most commonly affected. Additional symptoms include:
Swollen glands which usually appear behind the ears and at the back of the neck
A distinctive redpink rash
A fever is common in children but can be more severe in adults
Coldlike symptoms
Tiredness, irritability and a general lack of energy, plus aches and pains, and a poor appetite
Joint pain

Rubella can be prevented by immunisation via the MMR vaccine. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for more details.
