Dizziness

Dizziness is a word often used to describe two different feelings; vertigo and light headedness. It is important to distinguish between these symptoms so that the pharmacist or doctor can provide an accurate diagnosis.

Vertigo is a feeling of abnormal movement; that the surroundings are moving around when they in fact are not.

Light headedness is a feeling that you are about to faint, or “pass out”.
Lightheadedness may be caused by:
Allergies
Illnesses such as the flu or cold
Very deep or rapid breathing
Anxiety and stress

Common causes of vertigo include:
Inner ear disorders
Injury to the ear or head.
Migraine headaches
Decreased blood supply to the brain

Although dizziness can occur in people of any age, it is more common among older adults. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
