Diabetes, Type 1

Insulin is required for sugar from the blood to be stored in the liver. Type 1 diabetes is when the body attacks insulin producing cells in the pancreas. The cause of type 1 diabetes is genetically mediated, however, there may be some environmental factors involved.
People with type 1 diabetes typically have a higher blood sugar level due to the lack of insulin.

The symptoms of type 1 diabetes are often subtle, but they can become severe. They include:
Increased thirst and hunger
Dry mouth
Nausea and occasional vomiting
Abdominal pain
Increase in frequency of urination and infection
Unexplained weight loss
Fatigue and heavy breathing
Blurred vision
