Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a disease which commonly affects smokers. Smoking causes the airways to the lungs to become inflamed and the resulting swelling reduces the amount of air the lungs can receive. The narrowing of the airways causes episodes of shortness of breath and thick phlegm production upon coughing.

There are two types of bronchitis:
1.Acute; this is commonly accompanies an infection within the upper airways

2.Chronic; this commonly affects long term smokers due to their smoking habits. It is a serious medical condition and requires treatment

Bronchitis is treated with inhaled therapy, however chronic bronchitis can be avoided by quitting smoking. Talk to your pharmacist today about how nicotine replacement therapy can benefit you.
