Birth Control Pills

Birth control pills, also known as "the pill", prevent pregnancy via hormone alteration in a female.

The pill contains a small amount of manmade hormone. This synthetic hormone acts to work against the body's own natural hormones to prevent egg fertilization.

There are some side effects associated with the pill:
Nausea
Weight gain
Sore or swollen breasts
Lighter periods with a small amount of blood, or spotting, between them
Mood changes

Talk to your pharmacist for more information on birth control pills, and other measures you can take to decrease your chances of getting pregnant.
