Binge Eating Disorder


Binge eating disorder is when you consume large amounts of food, in short spaces of time. Unlike bulimia however, the individual does not attempt to get rid of the calories by self induced vomiting. After eating, it is common to feel unhappy and that your eating habits are uncontrolled


Experts are not sure what causes binge eating disorder, but it seems to be genetic. Experts think that personal attitudes about body shape and weight also play a role. However, certain medical conditions such as depression or stress can cause some people to binge.

If you have binge eating disorder, you may:
Eat too much in a short period of time (less than 2 hours) on a regular basis Eat for emotional reasons
Feel like you can't stop eating, so much so that you feel painfully full.
Feel unhappy, upset, guilty, or depressed after you binge.
Eat alone because you are embarrassed about how much you eat.
