Skin cancer /Melanoma

Sun exposure is the biggest cause of melanoma and other skin cancers, but early diagnosis and treatment can increase the survival rate from melanoma.

Family history is most likely to be the cause if you haven't had excessive exposure to the sun. About one in 10 people with a melanoma have family members who have also had at least one. You may also be at a greater risk if you have a large number of noncancerous birthmarks.
If you see unusual changes in your skin see your GP as early as possible.
