Pleurisy


Pleurisy is swelling of the thin layers of tissue covering the lungs and the chest wall. It can be caused by:
Air leaking into the pleural cavity
Injury to the chest
Tuberculosis or other infections,
Tumour in the pleura.

The symptoms of pleurisy include chest pain and difficulty in breathing. The chest pain usually starts suddenly.
People often describe it as a stabbing pain and it usually gets worse with breathing.
