Plantar warts

Plantar warts are small, skincoloured, rough lumps on the skin. They often appear on the hands and feet and look different depending on where they are on the body and how thick the skin is.

Plantar warts occur in a variety of shapes and sizes. A wart may appear as a bump with a rough surface, or it may be flat and smooth. Tiny blood vessels grow into the core of the wart to supply it with blood. In both common and plantar warts, these capillaries may appear as dark dots in the wart's centre.

Most plantar warts clear up without treatment, although this can take up to two years. There are treatment options available that may be able to clear plantar warts faster. Ask your pharmacist for more details on treatment for warts.
