Leukaemia


Leukaemia is cancer of the bone marrow, the soft tissues inside bones. This causes the bone marrow to make a lot of abnormal white blood cells.
You are more likely to get leukaemia if you:
Were exposed to large amounts of radiation or chemicals.
Had some types of chemotherapy
Have Down syndrome or other genetic problems
Smoke

Symptoms may depend on what type of leukaemia you have, but common symptoms include:
Fever and night sweats.
Bruising or bleeding easily.
Bone or joint pain.
Getting a lot of infections.
Feeling very tired or weak.
Losing weight and not feeling hungry.
