Kidney Infection


A kidney infection is an infection of the urinary tract. Urinary tract infections are mainly caused by the E.Coli bacterium, which is found in the small intestine. The infection can be of the lower or upper urinary tract.

The symptoms of a lower urinary tract infection include:
Pain, or a burning sensation during urination with an increase in frequency
Feeling that you are unable to urinate fully
Bloody, or badsmelling, urine
Pain in your lower abdomen

The symptoms of an upper urinary tract infection can include:
Any of the symptoms of a lower urinary tract infection
Nausea, or vomiting
Shaking, or chills
Pain in your lower back, or side, which is usually only on one side
